I don't think "inculcate" is so bad, but I suppose it can be taken to signify hectoring, so I will yield. "Teach" it is. If you feel more comfortable with the "know so far" caveat, I am happy to yield on that. On the use of "right": it may be stronger than I really intend, now that I think of it, although I don't think "optimum" does it. How about "best grounded", or something like that. I will retrieve and revise the original.
