I see you have banned certain individuals from posting on that thread. Squelching free speech and fair debate is exactly what the terrorists would like to see happening here in America.

Congratulations.

On another matter, I have always been of the open that SI should be a free and fair debate. When I joined 3 1/2 years ago there was no such thing as a "moderated" thread where SI members could arbitrarily control, manipulate, distort and warp discussion for whatever purpose they deem fit.

I am sorry, Ken (faltLine). Friday I applauded you for a well-run thread where you did not seek to quash debate here except for some very obvious troublemakers. I have attempted to contribute here and respect the opinions of others, and fairly take issue with positions with which I do not agree. It's called democracy and an open society. However, I will not accept people here saying I should enlist in the Ku Klux Klan simply because I bring to light mass theft, torture, rape and other crimes against peoples taking place in a State such as Saudi Arabia. I will respond very strongly to such comments, and also to someone who states that this repression of one-half of the human race is brought upon themselves, i.e. women are responsible for their own mistreatment.

I asked you to read over the posts yesterday evening. You did not. Then you send me the following, which I'll be damned if I won't publish here, on "your" free and fair debate platform. A shame. I did respect you, but with this statement to me you have lost it. I am done here.

Regretfully,

Olivier L. F. Asser

I have done nothing today but manage the mess you two made last night. Thanks a bunch.

I have NOT read the exchange except for a quick glance last night. All the relevent parts have certainly been quoted to me this morning. I'm 80 posts behind today and I've been going at it since 8am. You BOTH engaged in personal attacks last night. that flunks the RUDENESS test and that is a problem. Who started it is MY problem not yours (and you knew it).

Your conception of posting rights does not match mine at all. If I say you don't smoke in my house then you don't. If i publish rules for my thead then you follow them. IIf I apply them equally to everyone, then your rights are completely preserved. Start your own damn thread if you feel so strongly otherwise Oliver. I'll not permit people to hijack mine.

You ignored my request to refrain from posting, as did HG, and I am disappointed that both of you do not respect me enough to cooperate with one simple request. Today's posts from HG and from you have caused me tremendous trouble these past two hours and I am fed up.

Please do not post on FADG until further notification.

Simple.

Capiche?
