I'm also wondering what chance folks that were in a division making electronic toys have of fitting into the rest of Intel. Face it, most companies wouldn't go the extra miles Intel is on this matter. Tony
Probably true, most companies wouldn't go the extra mile. Maybe that's why I'm still here. I know that intel will do whatever it can, and use layoffs as the last resort, not the first.
However, I don't agree though with your assessment, of the people in the "toys" division not fitting in with the rest of intel. My experience has been that on average, at least in engineering, an employee stays in a specific job at intel for ~5 years before moving around internally. Some get bored, some move for the opportunity.
I've been here 9 years, and I'm actually on my 3rd position. And, by the way, my current position is quite different from the one I was hired for. My experience has been, that here, a person can "fit in"... if they want to.
