>>more ignorance on display. now you are trying to say that my views or buchanan's views advocate not taking in foreign investment or doing business with the rest of the world, even though that has never been the case in our country before. it is possible to do business and conduct trade with the world without surrendering national sovereignty.<<

actually craig, i was not trying to say that. what i was trying to say is that a lot of people will not invest in this country unless they perceive they are getting something back - and the finger doesn't count ;-) sure, some folks would still invest. others wouldn't and total investment would be down.

wrt to the name calling, gigo. your premise was false and so was your basis for name calling.

>>you can look at it like a spectrum. there is isolation on one extreme, intervention on the other extreme, and independence right in the middle. i am a nationalist and a protectionist which puts america's interests first--and second, and third as well. that does not equate to sealing ourselves off from the rest of the world, as much as you and rd would like to settle the argument without debate by brandishing me that way.<<

actually, i don't want to brandish you this way. my point was fewer dollars would flow to the usUS b/c other folks in other countries wouldn't be happy when we screw their interests in light of our own. not everybody, but a lot of folks. this should be a consideration for foreign policy.

hey, i'm not pro govt and i'm sure the worms in washington are actively screwing us. no doubt.

my eyes are still open! ;-)

put down the sensitivity beer!
