EMPLOYEES LOSING JOBS DON'T LIKE MIXED SIGNALS ABOUT SEVERANCE POLICY

Published on 06/24/97, Article 1 of 40 found.

Telxon Corp. workers who are losing their jobs as a result of the company's decision to move its engineering division to
Houston were stewing yesterday because of what the company called a misunderstanding over severance benefits.

The Fairlawn designer of mobile computers and wireless networks announced May 30 that it would move an unspecified
number of engineering and customer support positions to Houston over 18 months.

One of the interesting things mentioned in the article was an interview with a few of the engineers affected and they said something to the effect that they planned to take care of themselves and that they were told they would be paid through year end and that they have basically shut-down the engineering functions while they all hunt for jobs. I think we will see some additional changes in the company's plans because they obviously cannot afford to pay 100+ enginners and receive no results.
