To Anyone:

I recently ran into a problem installing IE 6.0. This is the same problem that appeared when I tried to install IE 5.5. The download and installation went smoothly and everything went fine until I tried to log onto my ISP or any of my programs that use the Internet.

My automatic dialer would not function. It had totally vanished. I had to first connect with my ISP manually. Then start the program I wanted. I did all the usual tricks such as looking at the settings in my Dial-up networking folder, my ISP folder, and the modem settings in the control panel. All appeared fine.

The only way I could get the automatic dial-up to work was to uninstall IE 6.0 and revert back to IE 5.1. Now everything is fine. I am currently using Windows 98SE.

Any thoughts out there?

TIA
