When Phillips says Siebel's "jump" in CRM has eroded, I think he's referring to a difference in product functionality. That's subject to opinion and the opinion is best expressed by the customers. Even so, we know that customers make their purchase decisions based at least partially on many factors having nothing to do with functionality. That works to the advantage of the more robust product at times and to the advantage of the less robust product at times, depending on the situation.

For whatever reason, Siebel has been fairly consistently reporting that it has no competition in more than half of its deals. That number has been rising.
