Has anyone addressed the danger of betting the entire company on a single FAB.
What would happen to AMD if they should experience some manufacture problems at their one site?

They might have an issue. Intel has a "copy exactly" strategy with the development fabs. Everything, down to the smallest detail, is identically copied from the development site. Machines, Tools, Documents, Procedures, everything.

This (in theory) should also allow the high volume manufacturing site to copy the development site's yield and bin-spilts. Additionally, If.... something goes wrong in 1 Fab, the in-process wafers can be transferred temporarily, to another fab.

AMD does not follow this strategy, so if one fab goes down, the Process most likely would temporarily stop.
