| It seemed to me your point was that conservative men are not concerned about women, women's rights, Buddha, Buddhist rights and/or artifacts, etc. It is only a liberal who is really concerned about anything except making money and bragging about it here on capitalist SI. Perhaps when you refer to patriarchs and protective men you mean middle eastern, Muslim cultures. I doubt it. I take you to insinuate that conservatives prefer women not to be autonomous, but feel good about themselves because they are protective. I think this is your way of assenting to my observation that you and I will not find grounds to agree about what constitutes care, concern, and working for the good of another person, whether of the same sex or not. Part of my point was that if one's concern does not include the autonomy and highest good (well-being, wholeness, health) of the other person, as distinct from my objectives etc., there is no real concern for the other individual. To wit, my objective is not to compromise the autonomy of my daughters, for example, in the interest of my own patriarchy, as glorious as my reign is, unfolding in wondrous technicolor before my awe-struck neighbors and friends. |
