As for the Band, Robertson was definitely fascinated by the concepts of borders, bells, and no-tomorrows ... Evangeline, Old Dixie, Acadian Driftwood, Smoke Signals, right down to Showdown at Big Sky, just look at the songs he's written. <g>

Still, the song ends with "Give us tomorrow". Perhaps even Robbie still entertains some small glimmer of hope ...
