Hey, pirate. Good to hear from you.
I recall a few quarters ago that DW at NTAP was questioning in a very oblique way how EMC was getting their NAS revenue stats.
I am not surprised. I am not a fan of EMC management, to say the least. With JT in charge, we can expect some games that I would call at best "tricky". I won't give the worst a name.
Did you see his 9/28 interview where the sales rep's arrogance was questioned. Joe said "People who know me know that I disdain arrogance." I knew Joe in the past. He hasn't changed much as far as I can say, and I would say that he is mostly over that line between aggressive and arrogance. Perhaps he disdains it in others.
EMC still has cash, ideas, a huge installed base, etc., so they will last until the next recovery and fly high as the water rises. But I will not be an LTBH of that stock because of management. I do not believe that have what it takes to meet my new investment horizon, whatever that is. Their waters are full of sharks and their installed base will prevent them from staying up with the disruptive technologies that will eventually chew them.
All my opinions, of course, and my opinions are worth less now than they have been for a few years.
No spam, please. I'll simply ignore it. |
