I agree that highjacked kamikaze airliners are, at this time, a low probability event. That is because of our awareness, which I hope will be long-lasting, and the steps we take to protect the aircraft (which I hope includes bolting the doors and arming the pilots).
However, as far as nuclear power plants, the consequences of a successful attack are so serious, that we must guard against even low probability events. That does not necessarily mean surrounding them with missiles, but I would like to see flight/altitude paths more severly restricted around these plants, removing public records on their design and susceptibility (which, up to a month ago, were easily accessible), moving to underground construction, hardening their cooling systems as much as their cores, etc. |
