Having foreigners defend us would be the ultimate in foresaking our own responsibility

I can easily understand why a young male would not wish to join the Foreign Legion. They are a little too eager looking for recruits (upper age limit...40yrs). A lot of guys must end up getting chewed up in the name of France. Maybe that is why I never joined -g- It is a voluntary army only. I would be against any draft.

The downside is compensated with good pay, food, and other considerations welcome to many. It's not everyones cup of tea, I'll be the first to agree to that.

On the other hand.. If you have a country to look after and have a problem with... say a terrorist country. If you wish to solve such a problem...what is the most effective answer?

Look at it from the enemies point of view..
A force that can withstand (has a reputation for) taking casualties but trained in a most aggressive manner to achieve military aims. That would instill fear and concern in the enemy imho, and be most effective. I do not wish to imply that the USA does not already have a "multinational" armed force of the most able kind.

We have an international problem. It's best solved with international means, That is being responsible imho.
