That's a good question (Who's calling the shots at CNN?). Not Jane Fonda anymore <g>. Some faceless, nameless, power monger or cabal who thinks s/he's going to shape the world -- and unfortunately, who has (have) undue influence, while at the same time being unelected, representing no one, and being anonymous and not answerable to the public.
Coincidentally, Liz Trotta of The Washington Times was just interviewed on FOX News -- great interview, very critical of the media and CNN in particular, discussing how the major networks are feasting on their own involvement in the anthrax story. She suggested that the media needs to step back, get its egos out of the way, and report the war news instead of giving first consideration to how it's going to help their own career. She also was critical of CNN's sending questions for Bin Laden to answer, and when asked whether CNN will air his answers if he responds, said, to the effect, "Of course they will. They'd air him reciting the alphabet." She also made a comment about "anthrax chic" sweeping the media and noted that CNN hasn't been targeted. I must say, I think I'll start watching FOX more and checking in on The Washington Times website (versus The Washington Post). |
