"in the face of ABSOLUTELY NO DATA, ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION of ATHWIPER MP sales, you naturally assume great AthWiper MP sales !!!"
Well, we were told that the Athlon MP sold in the 10's of thousands in Q3. Say it was only 10 thousand. Given the total volume of workstations sold, and the claim that Itanium was sold in negligible numbers, I would say that maybe 1000 systems was on the top end? Maybe two? Of course, that was Q2, and maybe the number of units sold as much as doubled. That would be 4k units, tops. I would guess that duals are probably the bulk of the sales, so what? Itanium might have racked up 10,000 processors in Q3? Likely less, I would say. So assuming the best for Itanium, and the worst for AMD, you get roughly the same units sales. Unless you have better numbers...
But you don't. Or you would present them.
Now admittedly, Itaniums sell for a whole lot more than Athlon MPs. But Intel spent how many billions on the R&D? How long before that get's amortized out? And we won't talk about the die size.... |
