"Most people" don't upgrade their RAM, because the other changes to the PC are necessary as well (ie. storage and processor speed), so they wait and replace the entire PC at once.

RAM is important, but processor speed and storage are just as important. The latest video card and sound card are also important for "gamers" or other video and audio uses.

Speech recognition only works with 800 mhz or higher and it works much better at VERY high processor speeds. We are another year or two away from very good speech recognition software and applications. When that happens, people will be replacing PCs made in 1999 and 2000 like crazy.

IMO,
Dave
