A reasonable test of whether a religion is really worth
giving the time of day, so to speak, is whether such a
notion is contained in it. Because RECORDED HISTORY tells anyone who inspects it for 5 minutes, that there have been religious teachers and inspired beings IN EVERY WORLD CULTURE, from time immemorial.
If the religion says, in essence: "WE are the only ones with the Truth, everyone else is an infidel" that sets up the basic conflict that has been the core of religious wars from the beginning to THIS very day!
If you think that God's Will Is done through conflict and war then I guess you belong in one of those religions.
If you don't, then you belong in some religion that allows for the fact that other sincere people may see things differently than you.
In other words, including some aspect of TOLERANCE.
If the religion does not have that as a major tenet, it is highly suspect, in my view. Most likely that is so because of the "additions" to the religion since the time of the original Teacher, and not necessarilly because of the failure of that Teacher.
