For a global alliance to be effective, we probably need a terrorist invasion from outer space, IMHO. Imagine what the world could be like without wars, which are the biggest deterrent to economic and social progress. After this conflict, we might be closer to a real world government. At least, the alignment and alliances of countries will be dramatically altered. Whoever would have thought a few years ago that we'd see the USA, Russia and China plus many other countries all basically agreeing on something! Sorry, liberals, but G.W.Bush might go down in history not just as one of the greatest US leaders, but also as one of the greatest WORLD leaders, albeit, that it has been thrust upon him.
