OT: Complementarity

The word first gained widespread use in the early 20th century by Niels Bohr and his fellow physicists as they grappled with the wave/particle dualities inherent in the new science of quantum mechanics. As I recall this is discussed in some length by Richard Rhodes in his wonderful book "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" which presents a fascinating tour through the history of the quantum revolution.
