My brother testified before that commission. He was then an executive for a major airline and has since returned to the cockpit.

His view remains that the airlines will fight any recommendation that will cost them money. In cases where public outrage or opinion dictates otherwise, the airlines will agree something needs to be done and insist on doing it their way - when they get around to it.

Everyone knows, I presume, that Sen Majority Leader Daschle's wife is a lobbyist for American Airlines.
