Psion takes wraps off 12.5-ounce portable PC

The Psion Series 5, which weighs 12.5 ounces, is based on Advanced RISC
Machines Ltd.'s ARM 7100 RISC processor and provides up to 35 hours of
life on two AA batteries. It also features either 4MB or 8MB of RAM and
10MB of ROM, as well as support for wirelessly transferring data over
infrared links, officials said.

In addition, the Series 5 is equipped with Psion's Epoch32 operating
system as well as built-in PC connectivity software that enables users
to exchange data with desktop productivity applications such as
Microsoft Corp.'s Office, IBM's Lotus SmartSuite and Corel Corp.'s
Office/WordPerfect suite,
said officials at London-based Psion.
