The truth is we should have examined our policies before the WTC episode. Certainly after, we did, but from a much more limited pallet of options. I don't think anyone can deny that our choices were limited on Sept. 11. Do we need Saudi money to fix D.C.? I don't think so and it seems unseemly to beg for it. When the Saudis stop the chopping of arms and heads, I'll take moral advice from them. But we shouldn't let the message get lost by who carries it. The fact is WE DO need to treat the in a manner Middle East different from how we have. I'm just not sure the current military actions are getting us closer to long-term national security. If terrorism in the United States stops when the last bomb drops in Afghanistan, I'm prepared to GLADLY, HAPPILY and GLEEFULLY eat crow. I don't think I'll have to, unfortunately.
