Well - all of AMD's CPUs were supposed to do it.

Jerry's goal of 30% market share by '98 fell a little short....

All the "RISC" chips were supposed to do it.

SPARC, MIPS, PPC, 88000 and don't forget Alpha.

All the 68000 and variants were supposed to.

A distant memory

Then there were the Rises, and Exponentials, and Cyrix, and TransMeta, and VIA, and the ULSI and ....... Oh well - where are they now?

C&T tried too with a 386 clone! And there was Nexgen which AMD bought for $861 million!

They all went to prepare a place for AMD...
