| He feels safe in Austin. He should live here, and have members of his family commute to an area less than two miles from the White House. He should, as I do, live less than ten minutes, by car, from the Naval Academy, and even closer to an important Navy telecommunications facility. My brother, the one in the wheelchair, is friends with a lot of Capitol Policemen. He visits them in the evening, and sometimes sits playing chess on the back porch of the Capitol with one of them. He knew the guys who were shot awhile back, one of them well. Several of them helped my mother to move. I have had friends in the Pentagon, though none current, and my sister- in- law works for Macy's in Manhattan. She used to work downtown, around Canal Street. Her boyfriend used to work in the World Trade Center. For some of us, this is personal, and there is a sense of urgency about getting this settled before the terrorists are more capable of damage....... |
