This Ramadan stuff is disingenuous rubbish. Arab history is full of conflicts that continued all through Ramadan.
The war of October 1973, known in the west as the Yom Kippur War is known in Arab countries as The Ramadan War - it was started by Egypt during Ramadan, on the holiest day of the year for the Jews.

The Egyptian Chief of Operations in describing the timing decision re the initial attack said More significantly, it was a period of religious holidays in both Israel and the Arab World ahram.org.eg
