'An approach I’m exploring is investing in companies domiciled in overseas Chinese communities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Vancouver, etc. that do business in China or with the Chinese. The Chinese consider the overseas Chinese almost the same as themselves, giving those outside the country a leg up on other nationalities. Find a few of these companies in which to invest and the alert investor will have found an entry point into the Chinese market.'

#reply-16535547 - Jim Rogers, always a good read ... i think he has a jimrogers.com on the net ... forgot to bookmark this thread, didn't see you guys' posts -g- ...... at some point this last spring/summer i posted on a cpt thread a couple of pieces from Jay Chen, an SIer with considerable chinese experience ... current experience ... can't find them now, too far back in the old Collapse thread, now called BBR ..... i'll look for them some long winter night, but here's one glimpse from just after the WTC -

'And yet, I feel uneasy, because when I was born, my names were Chen Jay, and a/k/a Jay Acham. At one time, before we were sent to the Chinese country side, we were told the Acham must go, because it was not Chinese. My English Jewish half-brother, 17 years my senior, at the age of 27, was sent to prison in Fushuen near Shenyang. His crime? Because of “li tung wai guo”, translated to simply mean his inside is connected to a foreign country. I could change my name, but he could not change his look. - #reply-16346418
