It's an interesting subject. Is Intel retaining too large
an amount of Goodwill? Are they amortizing it at a reasonable rate, over five years or up to twenty years?
I hope we have someone with an accounting background who will dissect it.
I remember a company (Yogen Fruz) three years ago
where an investor warned the thread that they were amortizing their good will over twenty years whereas the
industry average was five years. They were thus giving
a false impression of higher earnings.
Some investors define good will as the amount a company
overpaid for an acquisition.
