Al - a suggestion for your challenge which may elevate things a little and make this thread even all the more entertaining.

1. Have you thought about allocating a weekly "draft" pick scenario when it comes to people choosing their stocks. For instance, if Gofer were to come in 1st place for the week, his rewards beyond being the thread "guru" would be that he/she gets first pick at any stock the following week, and the runner-up gets 2nd pick, and the third place finisher gets 3rd pick, and on down the line it goes. If you implemented this type of situation, the process of picking would become more orderly, and more challenging. The 1st place finisher for the week would naturally have the upper hand for the proceeding week, and the all the rest would be faced with the prospect of knocking him/her backward.

2. If you elected to go with the above scenario, you would have to allocate time slots for people to make their picks. For instance, the 1st place finisher would have to make their pick no later than say Sunday 1pm; the 2nd place finisher no later than 2pm Sunday; and on and on. If anyone missed their appropriate slots to get their picks in, they would be bumped to the back of the line as punishment for being late.

3. You might consider tallying total funds for each individual plus or minus for each week and adding them up as each week passes. For instance, each week a person has 10,000 to buy into a stock as per your rules, however they have accumulated an access of funds set aside in a "purse" which will inevitably determine an overall winner when the challenge ends by totalling the "purses" of each individual entrant. It would be nice if the top three by the end of the contest were rewarded with something (money?, free membership to a web site service) that all the entrants help pay into.

Anyway, love the thread, but perhaps you might want to present the above suggestions here to others to determine whether or not anyone's interested in them. It would definitely elevate the entertainment value here along with people's desire to learn more and feed off each other to make each and every one of us better "investors".

ps. I know most of you men out there love a challenge and love to look at things in terms of a "sports pool" (ggg).

Val.

I know this is your thread Al, so if I'm out of line then I apologize.
