and we know that following the thread of radical Islamic terrorism back to its ultimate sources will place us head-to-head against the rulers of Saudi Arabia... at that point, a prior formal declaration of war would require us to insist the Saudi government hand over some of its highest ranking members to United States justice.....
You know, it is fast becoming abundantly clear that a lot of our enemies are hiding among the ranks of the Saudi Royal family. What you write above is something with which I completely agree. Time the U.S. declared war on:
1. Iraq 2. Iran 3. Syria 4. Libya 5. Saudi Arabia
And anyone else who continues fostering terrorism.
All of these countries in their own way have helped terrorists murder Americans. Why the get-out-of-jail-free pass for so long? The United States has the power to do this, and to win. I don't see the Chinese being able to stop us, and the Russians surely will not do so, either.
It is high time these cowardly murderers were shown just how far America is now prepared to go to protect its citizens and its way of life. If that means all-out war in the Middle East, fine. We will certainly win, and despotic governments with no care for human rights, terrorist base camps and not least OPEC will be distant memories.
On the other hand, it's all about timing. When you look at President Bush's team, with the exception of Secretary Powell, most members lean towards war on all states responsible, as it should be. My view is the best way is to attack each nation in turn, i.e., divide and conquer. So, today it's Afghanistan. Tomorrow, Iraq. The next day, Syria. Then Iran. Then Libya and Lebanon, adding perhaps Yemen and Sudan. Finally, Saudi Arabia.
If the Muslim world decides to take this as an attack on Islam then so be it. So what. When we declared war on Japan, did all Asians assume it was West vs. East? No. When it declared war on Nazi Germany, did all peoples of Germanic descent claim we were declaring war on them. (AS I recall we were allied with the Dutch and the Alsatians in France.) This Crusade business is a bluff, a clear attempt to intimidate or scare the U.S. into inaction. Many citizens of these nations long ago declared war on the U.S. It's time to return the favor and stop the head-in-sand foreign policy in its tracks before these fanatics land nuclear arms. At that point, the results would be far worse, as the U.S. would be obligated to incinerate a number of states. Fighting now is the best favor we can do the populations of these lands who have been robbed blind of their patrimony for decades. |
