WTF is going on with that supposed Anthrax test being displayed on the Squawk Box anchor desk? Who exactly had that idiotic idea? Although the letter was sent to Mark Haines, he's not there so I'm assuming that he had nothing to do with this stupid decision. I think he has more sense than that.

After CNBC won our admiration with their coverage of the terrorist attacks, are they trying to signal that we're back to business as usual (i.e. stupid gimmicks). For the few of you who were both there during the sixties and remember it, when I saw that stupid test bottle the only thing I could think of is the old Firesign Theatre "Beat the Reaper" game show sketch.

This is one of the stupidest things that CNBC has ever done. It is wrong on so many levels that I can't even begin to list the reasons it shouldn't be done. Ted, if you are reading this, this thing needs to be quashed now. Make that stupid bottle go away, never to be seen again. By all means if it is found to be Anthrax, report the news in a responsible manner. But if you're going to turn yourselves into the National Enquirer, at least stop pretending to be a legitimate news organization.
