AMAZON.COM TO SELL CREDIT CARD NUMBERS ONLINE
Company to Expand Revenue by Tapping Unutilized Resource

SEATTLE - Internet superstore Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced an innovative new concept in online shopping. Starting November 1, customers will be able to purchase the credit card numbers of other Amazon customers.

"We were trying to figure out if we had anything of value we could sell online," said Mark Britto, Senior Vice President of Cross-Site Merchandising. "Then it hit us - we have a vast database of credit card numbers just dying to generate revenue!"

Britto proclaimed the simple elegance of the plan, noting that the sale of credit card numbers carried virtually no overhead costs and could be delivered directly to customers' computers without the need for shipping expenses.

"Our plan is to stimulate sales of our other products by selling only the credit card numbers of customers who aren't meeting our minimum monthly purchase expectations," added Britto. He explained that existing Amazon.com customers who fail to meet the company's minimum $200 per month purchase expectations may be subject to having their credit card data sold to other customers.

To accommodate the changes, Amazon announced revisions to its privacy policy in 1-point white times-roman typeface at the bottom of its homepage.
