Y'know... any one of us can pull religious verses out of either the Koran or the Bible which we can interpret to justify any particular belief an individual wishes to advance, violent, or peaceful.

We could take references for "eye for an eye", or "tooth for a tooth"...

Or we can look at God's command for the Hebrews to slay all the Caananites as excuses for committing mass murder.

And there are just as many verses in the Koran that discuss violence only in the defense of Islam, where others make the claims that certain Suras advocate destroying the infidel.

But it's all in the interpretation of these religious texts, and so far as I'm concerned I would oppose any radical Christian extremist as I would a Muslim.

Personally, I think the whole discussion of what particular verses a particular extremist group uses to justify their acts of violence against innocent civilians is irrelevant.

What's important is that civilized people have to oppose the use of violence for the purpose of expanding religious values, whether they be muslim, christian, hindi, or what have you....

Imo, we're getting caught up in micro-analyzing select religious verses and stereotyping an entire religious belief based upon them.

I believe most of us have muslim acquaintances or friends who are extremely moderate and pacifistic. And I've met just as many Christians who are militant enough to believe they have the right to be intolerant of non-Christians living in the US.

This is not about Christianity or Islam... This is about people perpetrating evil in the name of religious faiths. Religious faiths which exist to give mankind some sense of peace and understanding of his place in the universe..

And I believe it's indefensible for some people out here to cast aspersions regarding the major religous figures around which these faiths revolve. That goes just as much Muhammed, as it does for Jesus.
