Easy. Many of today's consumers are not first-time buyers. They are more educated or are in the DIY market (and if they're not educated- many times they have 'knowledgeable' friends) . Sure, some consumers are going for those computers, but let's face it, they are crap. Besides, the retail market is littered with AMD.

The numbers released last week showed that the top five OEMs lost five percentage points more of market share. Dell is the only one gaining market share, mostly as a result of their business model (direct to home). They are meeting there lowered earnings probably because of customer service cutbacks etc...
