Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) reported a third quarter pro forma loss, which includes net interest expense, of $58 million, or 16 cents a share, down from $89 million, or 25 cents a share a year ago.

Pro forma loss excludes stockbased compensation, amortization of goodwill and other intangibles, restructuringrelated and other, other gains or losses, equity in losses of equitymethod investees, and the cumulative effect of change in accounting principle.

This is Amazon's 18th consecutive unprofitable quarter.

The company's results were in line with a Thomson Financial/First Call estimate for a loss of 16 cents a share, according to a survey of 22 analysts. A survey of seven analysts produced a third quarter revenue estimate of about $650.3 million.
