I mentioned Oklahoma-Nebraska and Princeton-Cornell in the same paragraph. On one level, it's the sublime vs. the ridiculous. But there are currently more than a dozen Ivies in the NFL, including one Pro Bowler (Birk from that school in Cambridge). Might be another handful playing right now. Of course, the Sooners and the Huskers probably have more than 20 each.

What's great about Ivy football, though, is its total unpredictability. Penn beats Dartmouth by a blocked PAT. Penn crushes Columbia. So, of course, Columbia handles Dartmouth rather easily, in Hanover to boot. Happens just about every other weekend. It's been going on at least since I was pretending to be a student. The title, BTW, should be decided by Penn-Haaaahhvaaaahhd, although Penn has to get by Brown, which has something of a recent whammy over them. Penn won last year, 41-38, but only because of several bone-head moves late by the Brown coach. Huge brawl after the game. Very un-Ivy, if you ask me.
