Bombing in Kabul kills terrorists Kabul Attack Kills Pakistani Militants A U.S. airstrike on Kabul has killed at least 22 members of a Pakistani group that the United States has linked to terrorism. Members of the Harakat-ul-Mujahideen group were killed early Tuesday when the house they were in was hit by a bomb. The group is one of more than 10 Islamic organizations fighting to end Indian rule in the disputed Kashmir region. It is not clear why the Pakistani militants were in the Afghan capital. U.S. warplanes hit the Afghan capital again late Tuesday. Several explosions were heard around the city, which has come under bombardment nearly every day since U.S. led forces began attacking suspected terrorist targets and positions of Afghanistan's ruling Taleban on October 7. U.S. warplanes also bombed Taleban forces north of Kabul and around the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif. The strikes marked the third straight day U.S. planes hit Taleban troops entrenched against opposition Northern Alliance forces. Taleban fighters responded to the strikes near Kabul with mortar attacks against the opposition lines. Fierce fighting has also been reported on the ground near Mazar-i-Sharif. Britain says at least nine terrorist training camps of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network have been destroyed in U.S. airstrikes. British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon made the announcement during a Tuesday news conference in London. Meanwhile, the U.S. Defense Department confirms that two U.S. military helicopters were fired on Monday inside Pakistan, as they returned from a mission to retrieve a wrecked helicopter that had crashed and killed two servicemen. A Pentagon spokeswoman says the retrieval helicopters were refueling at a base in Pakistan when they came under small-arms fire.
