Well, yes. I suppose you could say that. However, the difference is that in one case it is voluntary and in the other compelled by the government. Big difference.

English as the official language is simply recognition that we have to communicate to prosper. It makes sense, and in no way denigrates people who speak another language as well. To do otherwise condemns those who can least afford it to a life of subservient existence.

We don't have that many segregated schools any more, save those that are created by minority enclaves at their own insistence.
