Thanks Carl ... I dropped it because I didn't think the quotes were likely to be all that reliable. I'm more inclined to the Ghandi point of view "The line between good and evil is the line that runs through the middle of each person's heart" or words to that effect [assuming I got that right - not guaranteed].

Mostly people rationalize what they want to do and seek justification somewhere or other and they can usually find justification if they really want to do something. They build a case in their minds to support their wishes. The construction of the case comes AFTER the plan is decided, rather than BEFORE the plan.

All too often, investing behaviour works a bit like that too.
