Emulex Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters Available From Dell As Result of EMC/Dell Storage Agreement COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct 23, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Market-Leading HBAs Provide Connectivity for CLARiiON Storage Systems Co-Branded by Dell
Emulex Corp. (Nasdaq: EMLX chart, msgs), the world's leading supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), today announced that its Fibre Channel HBAs are now available from Dell to enable storage area networking (SAN) connectivity for CLARiiON systems co-branded by Dell and EMC.
As a result of the multi-billion dollar enterprise storage agreement announced yesterday by Dell and EMC, Emulex Fibre Channel HBAs are available to Dell customers immediately for a number of operating system environments, including Windows. Further, Dell customers may now leverage testing and qualification work previously completed by EMC.
"We are excited about the new relationship between Dell and EMC, and look forward to providing Dell customers with the high-performance, scalable Fibre Channel connectivity solutions that EMC customers have come to rely on," said Kirk Roller, Emulex's chief operating officer.
"As the number one provider of Fibre Channel HBAs, Emulex is well positioned to provide Dell customers with world class storage networking technology."
According to Dell and EMC, the alliance will make Dell the leading reseller of the CLARiiON product line, which will become Dell's standard offering for storage area networks and high-end network-attached storage (NAS) installations. Among the CLARiiON storage systems included in this agreement are the FC5300, 4500 and 4700, which support up to 64 servers, utilizing up to four host bus adapters per server.
