Bill - I have been cautiously adding to my DELL position over the last few weeks. They are doing most things right and I see a new strategy emerging which I think my be the thing I have been waiting for from DELL management - the forming of "virtual" companies to go after the upscale opportunities while still preserving the DELL model. If they can continue to develop in that direction they may be able to expand their super efficient approach into areas where high costs have made that impossible in the past. The economic climate helps DELL - companies like EMC who in the past were too arrogant to do that kind of deal with DELL are now facing a meltdown in their own business and need DELL's ability to drive business, and are therefore willing to do a deal on DELL's terms.

This is not a "prepare for an economic turnaround" strategy - it is a plan which works well, maybe even works best, in the current ugly times. Kudos to DELL management for keeping a clear head and making lemonade when the economy gave them lemons.
