The SF article came out a few days after the purchase of Paradyne for $170 M. About two weeks ago by a fellow by the name of Greenberg, I believe. The article was about over valuation of xDSL companies. He retracted his statements a couple of days after making them. You can find the online edition at sfgate.com.
As for the WSJ and Barrons; I cannot remember the specific articles. Its just something you notice after investing many years. The same for the hype on the web and CNBC. Generally one prominent article or statement or institutional house downgrade starts the ball rolling and the other all chime in on cue. The pulled it off with Pairgain technology in May--only two months ago. Take a look at the charts. Pair ran up to almost 120 and then an institutional house downgraded them. The stock dove to about 90. After shaking out all small inexperienced investors and those on marging, the stock turned around and hit 139 within three weeks. Not bad "profits" or shuld we saw loot. Its as easy as stealing candy from a baby when you control the news-media.
I'm sorry I couldn't give you more specific documentation but I simply don't collect that stuff anymore. When I first learned their tricks, I used to collect volumes of documentation. A fool cannot be convinced with documentation and an intelligent person will seek out his own documentation once you point him/her in the right direction.
