You're right. The Pentium 4 is behind by 1.2-2.2%, depending on whether you are talking about the base or the peak score. Maybe AMD should have called their chip Athlon XP 2000+. Maybe they still will.

P.S. It's still interesting how far ahead the Pentium 4 is in SPECfp. Despite the Athlon's strong floating point unit, this score is still a mystery. Maybe there will be more information on this in the future.
