Lee, yes...the last 2 years never happened. That's why I agree that we'll need another down rush to clear everyone out who still thinks high tech will make them rich again.

Frankly I think the general public is tired of all these upgrades and technical goodies that have been shoved down their throats the past 10 years. With all the uncertainty and the fact that almost everyone who wants a cell phone or pc has one...I doubt there will be much demand for consumer tech goodies for some time. In this light:

-Microsoft XP will fail to meet expectations because most consumers and businesses will not see the need to upgrade. Why spend huge amounts of time to change to something when what is currently working...works?

-3G wireless hype will fizzle once people refuse to upgrade in order to do whatever the service providers think the consumers must "have". Voice is the major application for wireless and it will take longer than most everyone thinks for that to change. The Japanese may like to send "Little Kittie" pictures to their friends while trapped on mass transit like rats, but Americans have better things to do.

-Telecom debt will continue to cause problems and depress the sector especially when the consumer demand for new services is still a crap shoot.

As usual, enjoy the thread.

Good luck out there.
