I agree 100% with your comments regarding the work of teachers and I would like to see them paid more and held in higher esteem. They do some of the most valuable work of this nation and yet I do not believe we back them well enough. School boards cower to the screaming hissy race baiters and force these teachers to co-exist with violent, undiscipled youths. My father taught school for 15 years in central Illinios in the early 60's and he is aghast at conditions today.

I do not however share your optimism with the status quo. It's the old adage of "If you change nothing, nothing changes". (my simpleness is showing) I'll give you an example of what Im talking about. I know a guy who has 5 kids in a South Central LA neighborhood who told me his kids don't have books for their classes. I ask you, how in the hell can anyone say they are running a school system and yet have no books? NO BOOKS!! My simpleton approach says there are 3 things essential to an education,
1. Books
2. Teachers
3. Classrooms

These are essential and I know you agree. So I ask you, if there are no books, where's the money going? What non-essential is being bought while an essential is being neglected? Then you must ask, Who's in charge?

There my friend, is the root of the problem.
