Well then they would be wrong. The coming together of cultures, faiths and bloodlines strengthens, not weakens societies.

It was theorized in a PM to me that perhaps the real difference between the US (and most of the West) and the rest of the world is in the concept of "family". Obviously, fundamentalist Middle Easterners have an entirely different concept of "family" than we do.

Perhaps with the advent of modern communication we can hope to bridge those differences that in the past have led to killing and war?

The Aussies are going to be dragged onto being a part of the "family" of humanity whether they like it or not. That is unless they close their society to immigration altogether.
