Yes, the analysts know this, which is why I think it had no effect.

It was also suggested that that perhaps IBM doesn't want it known that CUBE is inside since they plan on using their own solution longer term.

The IBM solution requires Soft CSS for decryption, it doesn't have AC3 and also needs to run software to separate the Audio from the video. An off the cuff guess is that they need more than 50% of the CPU to do this.

As far as I can tell the decrypted data still needs to cross the PCI bus so is it secure?
I don't know what they're recommending for a total system solution, so I wouldn't put it past them to have the problem answered.

BTW: it's Quadrant/IBM.
