Re: "Why do you think that your company is ripping you off in this regard?"

Rip-off might be too strong a word. What I object to is the company constantly trying to squeeze the employees with insurance surcharges, end runs to get their greedy hands on the pension overfunding, etc., while the fat cats at the top continue to draw 6-figure bonuses, even in "down" years. There's a whole layer of middle managers at corporate whose sole job is to squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. They should have gotten jobs with Charmin.

Re: "It looks like your company is offering an outstanding value on health care." We have a good health-care plan, and most of the rank-and-file realize this. That's why I've remained low-key about the added charge.

Re: "Was spousal coverage free before?" No. One pays more for family coverage than individual coverage. If an employee has a stay-at-home wife, then his insurance rates would remain the same. Only employees with working spouses who refuse health-care coverage at their place of employment must pay the additonal $500-plus a year.

Re: Lawyer's fees: We pay the law firm X amount a month, so we might as well get our money's worth and run this by them. Wouldn't be doing our duty to the membership if we punted on this one.
