Tuesday Sep 25 2001 News Release

Weatherford, acting as operator of the Winfield Ranch No. 17 1-E well in Pecos county, Texas, has completed a sidetrack of the well to a depth of 25,875 feet. Weatherford had assumed operations in September, 2000, to sidetrack the well to mitigate damages. On Aug. 18, 2001, Weatherford turned the well back to Baytech as operator for a completion attempt of the well, provided Weatherford agreed to finance 100 per cent of the completion operation. Baytech proceeded to perforate and acidize the targeted Ellenburger formation between 24,750 and 25,806 feet. The sidetracked well was tested but recovered non-commercial quantities of gas.
The company holds a 15.79-per-cent interest prior to payout and an 11.84-per-cent interest after payout in the Winfield Ranch No. 17 1-E well.
