"TWST: Edward, what are the subsectors of semiconductor capital equipment that you focus on most closely, and what part does each of those subsectors play in enhancing semiconductor manufacturing capacity?
Mr. White: We break the industry up into a number of subsectors. Among the major ones are (1) the wafer processing equipment companies, such as Applied Materials (AMAT), Novellus (NVLS), and Lam Research (LRCX); (2) the inspection and measurement companies, such as KLA-Tencor (KLAC), and Therma-Wave (TWAV); (3) the automation segment, which includes Asyst Technologies (ASYT), Brooks Automation (BRKS), and PRI Automation (PRIA); assembly and packaging, which includes Kulicke & Soffa (KLIC); and the test equipment area, which includes companies such as Teradyne (TER) and LTX (LTXX). These are the major segments.
There are a number of other segments that support the semiconductor equipment industry. All of them play a very major role in enhancing semiconductor manufacturing technology, and I think as we look over the next few years that they're all going to be critical in getting semiconductor manufacturing technology to the next level." biz.yahoo.com |
