I have always been under the strong impression that the large majority of IRA funding (IRA meaning the Provisional Irish Republican Army'; the 'Real Irish Republican Army'; the 'Continuity Irish Republican Army'
and the 'Irish Nationalist Liberation Army) is/has been supplied by their "participation" in organized crime. Libya has been held responsible for supplying many of their weapons and explosives, while Irish-American groups, many of whose members reside in Boston, are an important source of contributions. To name Boston as the predominate source of funding for the IRA is most likely an incorrect statement.
